Why I Now Like Working Out

We are half way thought January- how are everyones fitness resolutions going!? Today I wanted to share my experience with working out and why I don’t hate going to the gym anymore. I used to despise the whole gym and workout bit, but I’ve now come to like it, and more importantly, how it makes me feel.

First lets talk about this amazing set that I found from Walmart (both pieces are under $35 each). I love a cute matching workout set, and it definitely motivates me a little more to workout! I hadn’t really though of Walmart as a place to get activewear, but when I was home for Christmas, my mom asked if I liked her leggings (which I did), and then proceeded to tell me she loves them and they were only $14 at Walmart! I was surprised at this, but when Walmart came to me with a collaboration for their fitness clothing, I knew I was definitely going to say yes- my mom had already vouched for them. haha. I will definitely be checking back at Walmart more often as they have some great affordable pieces whether you are lifting weights or lifting mimosas at brunch. 😉

Here are some of my favorite workout and athleisure pieces from Walmart.

What Made Me Like Working Out

I started to like working out when I found this structured workout and nutrition plan. I think I like it because it’s a challenge for myself to stick to the plan and follow the schedule for each day. Before this plan I was just going to the gym and doing whatever I felt like that day. Usually a little cardio and some machines/weights (I’m not really a workout class person, so I never wanted to do that). I didn’t have a purpose and wasn’t seeing the toning results I wanted, so I was not motivated to be consistent with my workouts.

After a couple weeks into this plan, I was hooked. It was completely different than what I was doing and I could see it working. I was more ready than ever to hit the gym and keep the momentum going. This plan follows a 4 day cycle (including the corresponding nutrition plan), so missing a day completely messes up the whole thing.  I get anxiety thinking about missing a day and messing it up, so it forces me to stay on track. I was determined to stick to the plan perfectly! Working out is now just a part of my daily routine and I don’t question IF I should workout that day- I just know I will be (unless it’s the off day). Because I’ve seen such a positive change in my body and actually have seen results I want, I am more determined than ever to stick with it.

Although I’m not going to lie, it was not easy at first. I didn’t see any change the first week and my new nutrition plan was tough to follow (I had never done a low carb plan, so it took some adjusting). That first week is always the hardest, no matter which program you choose, but each day will get easier. It also helps to have someone to keep you accountable. I had my husband who definitely helped me keep on track and make comments when I was “cheating” on my nutrition plan. If you don’t have anyone to keep you accountable, I would love help you keep accountable! Drop me a message on Instagram!

I encourage you to try some programs, classes, or routines out to see what works best for you and what you will like. The same plan doesn’t work for everyone, so it may take some time to find something you don’t mind doing. But I will say that nutrition has a huge part in changing your body, whether that be weight loss or toning up, so take some time to research healthy eating as well!

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own
