A couple weeks ago I headed back to Enlighten in Dallas for another cosmetic procedure. I have been going to Enlighten for my Botox, and I want to share my recent experience with under eye fillers! Check out my Before and After Botox post if you want to learn more about Botox!
Before I continue, I want to make sure to mention that in no way I am saying you have to get fillers, or that it is the right decision for everyone. This is just a decision I have made and want to share with you in case you are looking for more information. I want to be open with you guys and share my experiences.
For the past few years I have noticed the dark circles under my eyes getting darker and darker. I researched what procedures would be able to help my situation, and a common answer was filler. I went into Enlighten for a consult, and they agreed that fillers would be a good option to help reduce the appearance of my dark circles. As we age, we loose volume and collagen in our faces, thus the skin begins to sag and thin. Fillers can help add some of that lost volume back into areas of your face.
What are fillers?
Typically fillers consist of some type of Hylaronic Acid that can help plump or fill areas of the face, fine lines, or lips. Hylaronic Acid is already found in our bodies, thus making it safe since it is already naturally occurring in our bodies.
Are there different types of filler?
Yes, there are many types of fillers and the area being treated will depend on the type used. If you schedule a consult at Enlighten, they will be able to determine the best course of action and type of filler needed.
What areas can fillers treat?
On the face, basically any area below the eyes is what can be treated with filler. Lips can be plumped, cheeks can be contoured, wrinkles filled, and volume added. For my treatment, Vobella was added to be tear troughs to reduce the appearance of under eye circles. It. can even reduce the aged appearance on hands!
How long does it last?
It depends on the type of filler, but can be anywhere from 12-18 months for the under eye area.
Update: I went back at the 14 month mark for a top up. I started to notice the dark circles come back around then, so I wanted to keep on top of it!
What type did you get?
My under eye area was injected with Vobella.
Does it hurt?
It doesn’t hurt, but can feel a little uncomfortable. They freeze the area beforehand with a topical cream, so you mostly just feel pressure. And I think your head cam play games and make you think its hurting because you have a needle in your fave, but stubbing your toe hurts more than this! haha
What is recovery like?
Recovery was pretty easy, I had a small bruise on one side of my face and a couple spots where the needle went in, but after a week, it was all cleared up. You can also have a little swelling, but I thought mine was pretty minimal. Can take up to 2 weeks to see the final result.
Update: I went back for more filler at 14months, and I didn’t bruise this second time around! I made sure to not have any Advil a week before, whereas last time, I had taken Advil a couple days before, which is a huge no-no.
How much does it cost?
Costs can vary depending on the type and amount of filler used. But for the filler I received under my eyes, pricing is $450 for half a syringe, or $750 for a full one. I only did half and thats what most people need. If you mention my name, you will get 15% off at Enlighten in Dallas, making it about $382 for half a syringe. But please note that the pricing will vary for each area, and it is best to go in for a consult!
Who did the injecting?
Dayna was the one who did the injecting and I cannot recommend her enough! She is an expert at what she does! One thing to remember if you are getting fillers, that it’s an art. The person injecting needs to understand the face and features of a person to effectively administer the fillers. I would definitely do your research and find someone who is knowledgeable in this area.
Update: The second time around I saw Linda and she was awesome as well! All the girls there are amazing!

July 23, 2018 at 4:31 pmTHANK-you for doing a blog post on this. Dark Circles are something I not only struggle with, but am also very self-conscious about. I had thought about injections, but had not seen any great before and afters — where I actually saw a difference in dark circles vs less hollowing — so was skeptical that it actually worked. Anyway, I am totally speaking to my doctor about it the next time I go in for Botox — so thanks for sharing and making me a believer. 🙂
